With the preseason finishing up, fringe players are being cut, always an interesting time for a team in the position as the Lakers. Looking for young talent, the Lakers certainly have their eye on cuts being made, including that of the Denver Nuggets, who have waived guard Quincy Miller.
Miller is entering his third year in the league, assuming he makes a team. Drafted with the eighth pick in the second round, the Baylor product struggled to find minutes for the Nuggets, playing in only 59 games over his two seasons and scoring just 266 points, 4.5 points a contest.
However, he showed some flashes last season, putting up a 19-point, 6-rebound, 3-assist game against the Houston Rockets and managing a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds as well.
With the Lakers small forward role pretty barren, Miller could be a target. As is, the Lakers roster is at the maximum, but guard Wayne Ellington could be cut once he recovers from the concussion he received in a collision during the last preseason game Friday night.
We’ve seen the Lakers take the “scraps” from other teams and find gems the last two seasons, ranging from Xavier Henry to Ed Davis and even Kent Bazemore, who came to the Lakers in a trade and put up career numbers in his short time in LA.
