There was little to be positive about after Wednesday’s blowout loss to Phoenix, the second blowout in as many nights to open the season.
Aside from the performance of Kobe Bryant and possibly Ed Davis, the Lakers had an overwhelmingly disappointing performance. One of the more notable lackluster performances came from Jeremy Lin. Lin went just 2-5 from the field for 6 points with 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 turnovers.
Despite what stats may show on the season, Lin has never looked comfortable on the floor, failing to mesh with Kobe Bryant and fellow teammates. After the loss in Phoenix, the guard admitted as much to reporters.
After a fairly productive start in the preseason, Lin has never matched that level going forward. Obviously the ankle injury during training camp and the preseason derailed his adjustment period with new teammates.
However, Lin has often appeared tentative and uncertain on the court, not like the Lin many fans expected to see. In order for the Lakers to rebound from these two losses, Lin (and his teammates) must step up to support Bryant, who has been a one-man show for the majority of the first two contests.
