After the Lakers earned their first win of the season against the Charlotte Hornets Sunday night, forward Ed Davis went to twitter to finally fire back at Charles Barkley:
Barkley grabbed a lot of attention this past week when he stated on Inside The NBA he wouldn’t be eating another meal until the Lakers got their first win. It’s hard to see Barkley going a day without food—although he could stand to lose a few pounds. However, he has never been shy to speak his mind or say outrages statements. Remember his take on the women that live in San Antonio?
Nonetheless, Davis wasn’t afraid to address Barkley’s statement after the game. Fortunately, Davis wasn’t afraid of the Hornets, either, as he recorded 10 pts., 5 reb., and shot a perfect 5-5 from the field off the bench in the 107-92 win.
Davis has been a wonderful bright spot for the Lakers thus far as he is averaging 10.3 ppg with 6.8 rpg over an average of 23 minutes. Davis’ excellent play has raised questions of whether or not he should be inserted into the starting lineup, and even though he is still coming off the bench, he is no doubt making a positive impact on the court every minute he is out there.
The Lakers will need him to come up big on Tuesday night when they face his former team, the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are 6-1 so far, and although the Lakers will be coming off their first win of the season, the Grizzlies are coming off their first loss.
Either way, I’m sure Davis and Barkley’s stomach are both happy at the moment as beating the Hornets on Sunday night is looking like a win-win for both parties.
