It’s official, folks. Nick Young is back and will suit up tonight against the Atlanta Hawks off the bench.
With the Lakers in desperate need of consistent offense outside of Kobe Bryant, Young’s return couldn’t come at a better time. Off the bench, Young will be able to supplant Bryant’s scoring when the latter is not in the game. More importantly, his return should also signal a decrease in minutes for Bryant.
Young has been out injured with a sprained thumb that required surgery. Ironically, Young sustained the injury while playing defense on Bryant during training camp. Despite the setback, Swaggy P remained positive and has continued working out with the team to the best of his ability.
The Lakers will also have another guard returning to the team with Wayne Ellington set to join the Lakers either tomorrow night in Houston or Friday against Dallas. Ellington has been back home with his family mourning the death of his father.
On the court, this is great news for the Lakers, who are coming off arguably their worst offensive performance against the Warriors sans Bryant, who carried the load for the sputtering offense that night.
