The Los Angeles Lakers will be getting the services of Carlos Boozer back on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies as well as the reassurance that Ed Davis will be available to play.
Boozer missed Sunday night’s contest against the Denver Nuggets with a shoulder injury, his first missed game of the season. In his place started Davis who, in typical Lakers fashion, twisted his ankle during the game. While he finished the contest, his status was questionable during the week.
In place of Boozer, Davis scored just four points, grabbed five rebounds, and fouled out in 22 minutes, stunting the talks of Davis starting over Boozer.
Boozer has played well in stretches, averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds this year. Compared to Davis, who is averaging 8.0 points and 6.6 rebounds with 1.4 blocks this year. Davis has been the better option defensively and seems like the better option in the future, but Boozer has been chosen as starter from Scott.
With tonight’s game against the Grizzlies, the Lakers will need all the size they can to handle Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph. In Memphis earlier this season, the Lakers held Randolph and Gasol to just 19 points and 18 rebounds combined, well below their average of 36 points and 20 rebounds a night. However, they weren’t able to pull out a victory as a late rally came up short.
