Lakers working on deal with Earl Clark; could return until the end of the season

As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers are currently working with Earl Clark with the intent of reaching an agreement regarding a one year deal to sign the former Laker until the end of the season.

The combo forward, who enjoyed a brief stint with the Purple and Gold during the 2012-2013 season, has failed to find his place in the league after short stays in Cleveland and New York throughout the duration of last season.

His impressive length, rebounding ability and versatility make him a desirable addition to the roster, yet his offensive game appeared to crumble in the latter half of last season, perhaps due to his lack of conditioning and consistent playing minutes. He has demonstrated his abilities in the past, both offensively and defensively, yet his run of poor form will leave some fans questioning whether or not the hole at the three/four spot could be filled by another player – perhaps the likes of Quincy Miller – more effectively.

After losing Julius Randle for the season, as well as Ryan Kelly for the foreseeable future, a dynamic forward seems appealing to L.A.

For what it’s worth, Clark has averaged 28.8ppg, 7.3rpg and 3.3bpg in his four appearances for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers so far this season.
