Jeremy Lin: Newfound Consistency Leading To Big Impact

Consistency can be a fickle creature. Possess it, and you’re production level can be counted upon. Lose it and you quickly become an infuriating player and unreliable.

Jeremy Lin felt the full force of the latter for much of the beginning of the season. After coming into the season with high hopes, the Los Angeles Lakers guard could not find the rhythm. Fans weren’t sure if they’d see the version of Lin who put up 21 points and 7 assists against the Charlotte Hornets or the version that managed zero points, one assist, and two rebounds against the Golden State Warrriors.

Finally, though, it appears Lin has found the key to consistency as he’s turned in four straight solid performances after last night’s 18-point, 11-assist performance against the Timberwolves in a one point loss. Over the stretch, Lin is averaging 16.8 points and 6.5 assists with 2.0 steals as well. Most notably, though, is his shooting numbers as he’s nailing 56% of his field goals and 33.3% of his three-pointers.

The advanced metrics also support Lin’s improved play. This most recent four-game stretch is the first time this season with four consecutive games with a game score in double digits for Lin. It’s also the first time this year he’s managed at least five assists in four straight games.

Finding the perfect fit for both Lin and Kobe Bryant has been the challenge, but it appears the duo has finally worked out their issues. While this four-game stretch has amounted to an 0-4 record, the last three games have all been single-digit losses that were competitive into the final minute.
