Byron Scott Considering Sitting Kobe Bryant Out A Game For Rest

After Kobe Bryant‘s brutal 8 for 30 shooting performance and his nine turnovers in a loss to Sacramento, Byron Scott said after the game that he will consider resting Bryant a game or two.

Bryant’s performance Sunday came on the heels of another horrible shooting night on Friday when he was just 3 of 15 from the field, including missing the potential game-winning shot. Over his last five games, Bryant is shooting 33 of 113 while still playing upwards of 35 minutes a game.

Coming into this season, Bryant’s minutes were a big talking point considering the multiple injuries he was coming off of. However, Scott assured fans he wouldn’t be bullied around, but at this point in the season, it looks as though just that is happening. Bryant is averaging 35.4 minutes on the season which, at 36 years old, is far too many.

Also to consider is the play of the Lakers’ bench, which has guards Jeremy Lin, Nick Young, and Wayne Ellington all playing at high levels in recent games, and not to mention Jordan Clarkson, who has struggled to see time on the court.
