Lakers Rumors: Celtics Wanted Julius Randle For Rajon Rondo
By Jacob Rude
Late last week, the Lakers were one of many teams involved in trade discussions with the Celtics in hopes of landing point guard Rajon Rondo via trade. However, the Lakers were unwilling to give the Celtics as much as they wanted and fell out of the running. According to Marc Spears, the Celtics wish list including rookie Julius Randle.
"The Lakers and Celtics had mutual interest for a Rajon Rondo deal, but the Lakers weren’t willing to give up injured rookie Julius Randle, a source said."

In the end, the Celtics landed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks that sent Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, a first round pick and a second round pick to Boston for Rondo.
Randle, on the other hand, is out for the season with a broken tibia, which he suffered on opening night. The rookie, however, has been treated as the heir apparent to the Lakers franchise and it’s highly unlikely that general manager Mitch Kupchak and the front office will include him in any deal that wouldn’t land them an absolute superstar player. In Rondo, they would have had a player who could have left the franchise this summer, far from an ideal situation.
