Lakers Injury Report: Julius Randle To Have Surgery On Foot
By Jacob Rude
In between the third and fourth quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Pacers, the Lakers announced that rookie Julius Randle will have surgery on his right foot. This surgery is unrelated to the broken bone he suffered, but is related to the injury that was brought to attention during the NBA Draft process.
Here is the Lakers statement on the surgery:
"Lakers forward Julius Randle will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning to replace the screw in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The surgery will be performed by Dr. David Thordarson of the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center. It was previously declared that Randle would miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season after suffering a fractured tibia of his right leg in the season opener on October 28.He is expected to make a full recovery."
According to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, the surgery is more of a precaution for the future as opposed to a necessary procedure.

For the Lakers and Randle, this seems like a wise decision. With Randle already set to miss the season, it makes sense to have the surgery. If there’s any chance that the injury could become an issue down the road, it’s best to take care of the matter now as opposed to Randle suffering another setback later on in his career.
We certainly wish the best for Randle, especially after his eventful and exciting Summer League and preseason performances.
