With the trade winds swirling, the Lakers rumors today are surrounding Brook Lopez, whom the Lakers are interested in, but a deal remains unlikely with the lack of assets by Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Lakers continue to look for the home run hit on the trade market as opposed to committing to tanking. This time around, the Lakers are rumored to have interest in Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez, but a deal is unlikely.
"The Brooklyn Nets have accelerated trade talks involving Brook Lopez and intend to move him soon. The Nets are in talks with several teams with Lance Stephenson a viable option. Brooklyn is gathering intel on Stephenson. The Charlotte Hornets tried to trade away Stephenson last month. The Los Angeles Lakers are also interested in Lopez, but don’t have the assets to make a deal work for both sides. The Nets most serious potential trade partners are in the Western Conference."

As is, the Nets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Charlotte Hornets are discussing a three-team trade involving Lopez, Lance Stephenson, and Jeremy Lamb, but the trade is still in the early stages and nothing is imminent.
The Lakers have been active in the trade market despite not having made a deal yet. They were players for Rajon Rondo, but Dallas ultimately ended up landing the point guard. They’ve also called on players like Dion Waiters, Brandon Jennings, and Greg Monroe, but nothing more than inquires were made to the best of our knowledge.
Despite having the fourth worst record in the league, the Lakers are less interested in trading away players for draft picks, but instead are looking to better their team. This is despite the fact that the Lakers lose their first-round pick if it falls outside the top five, but that clearly is not a focus for LA.
With the trade deadline roughly one month away, we’ll certainly hear the noise surrounding the Lakers pick up. However, with star players available for trade few and far between, it’s like the Lakers will have a decision on their hands in the coming weeks.
