Kobe Bryant Reflects On The Impact Of Dr. Jerry Buss
By Alex Torres
It was Dr. Jerry Buss’ birthday yesterday and it seemed like the Lakers were going to honor him with a win against the Wizards, but the Lakers couldn’t hang on to the lead. The Lakers did a terrific job of honoring one of the greatest owners in all of sports, they gave out a commemorative ring to all the fans in attendance.
These last couple of seasons really makes us appreciate Dr. Buss. He was so committed to winning and always delivered the best product on the floor. Since his passing, the Lakers have not been the same. With Kobe Bryant nearing the end of his career, the Lakers need to rebuild, but how fast they’ll be able to rebuild is the real mystery.
The Lakers are a premiere franchise and that’s because of Dr. Buss. He transformed the game for the better and the Black Mamba is very appreciative for the opportunity to play for Dr. Buss. The Lakers twitter account released this video of Bryant speaking on the impact Dr. Buss had on himself and more importantly this city:
"Kobe reflects on his relationship with Dr. Buss. https://t.co/0utnqkO1N6— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) January 28, 2015"
Every Laker fan wishes Dr. Buss was still alive. When he was in charge, everything would always work out. The Lakers would always bounce back and winning became part of the culture. We’ve been spoiled, Dr. Buss’ success with the Lakers will never be replicated.
As we approach a new era of Lakers basketball we can only hope that Jim and Jeanie Buss are able to get this franchise back on track. Their father worked too hard to establish the Lakers as a dominant figure in the league. It’s been a rough transition so far, at this point we can only hope for the best.
