With their sights set on free agency this summer, the latest Lakers rumors focus on potentially their biggest target in Marc Gasol. According to his brother and former Laker Pau Gasol, the big man may not be too willing to come to the West coast.
The Los Angeles Lakers have made it clear that they are looking to aim their focuses for rebuilding on free agency. After striking out last summer with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, the plan is to pursue the likes of Marc Gasol, Rajon Rondo, and other top names this summer.
However, according to former Laker Pau Gasol, his brother Marc Gasol may not be too willing to come to LA this summer. In a recent piece from Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding, the older brother Pau spoke on the likelihood of Marc signing with the purple and gold.
"“Marc wants to win a championship,” Pau said. “That’s what he’s looking for. That’s what’s most important to him. I don’t know if you think the Lakers will be in a position to win a championship next year or not.“But he knows what he’ll be looking for as a free agent—or maybe he’ll stay in Memphis because they have built a very good team already there with some very good pieces. He’ll know what he wants, and he will be ready to make his decision.”"
Certainly not words of encouragement for Lakers fans, who were likely holding onto a pipe dream of landing the former Defensive Player of the Year. While this certainly doesn’t rule out Marc for the future, it’s unlikely that Pau will be in the Lakers’ corner this summer.

Many may remember that Marc Gasol was once property of the Lakers, having been drafted in the second round in the 2007 NBA Draft by LA. He was then traded by the Lakers to acquire his younger brother Pau.
At the time considered a somewhat high-risk prospect, Marc has blossomed into arguably the best center in the league. Facing free agency for the first time in his career this summer, the Spaniard is expected to be high on many team’s wish lists. This season with the Grizzlies, Gasol is averaging 18.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks a game.
