Lakers News: ESPN Won’t Televise Game Against The Knicks
By Alex Torres
The Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks are two of the most storied franchises in the NBA. They rank first and second in overall worth, but this season they are two of the worst teams in the league. They have been downright awful and fans from both fan bases are disappointed with the product that has been put on the floor.
It’s hard to watch the Lakers and Knicks play this season, but what about when they face each other? Well, ESPN wants no part of that match-up. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, ESPN has opted to not televise the Lakers/Knicks game and instead will air celebrity bowling:
You know you’ve hit rock bottom when you get replaced with bowling. The Lakers are actually coming off an impressive win against the Bulls and the Knicks have won four out of the last six games. This is definitely not a Finals preview, but two bad teams that are trending upward could have given us a good game.
Basketball is one of the most popular sports in the world and bowling doesn’t come close. It’s Super Bowl Sunday, so maybe ESPN wants their viewers to focus on the football coverage. Regardless, the Lakers and Knicks need to improve, this league isn’t the same without them.
