By Alex Torres
Jeremy Lin captivated the city of New York and the entire basketball world in 2012. His emergence with the Knicks came out of no where, but Lin took advantage of his opportunity and Linsanity was born. Now, Lin is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and he hasn’t been able to ignite that same type of spark since then.

The Lakers were in the Mecca of basketball today to take on the Knicks. Like the Lakers, the Knicks have been one of the worst teams in the league, but they have playing well as of late.
Lin was making his return to the Garden and the Lakers needed him to play like his old self for them to win this game. Unfortunately, Lin didn’t play his best basketball. According to Janis Carr of the OC Register, head coach Byron Scott was not pleased with Lin’s performance against the Knicks:
Lin finished the game with four points and seven assists in 24 minutes played. It seemed Lin was focused on getting his teammates involved, he only took three shots the entire game. He did finish with the seven assists, but the Lakers needed him to be more aggressive. He got off to a good start, he had four assists and a tough basket early on, but he was quiet the rest of the game.
Scott expects a lot from the veteran Lin, which is why he was disappointed after the game. The Lakers need Lin to lead this young group of guys through this disappointing season. He has to be aggressive at times, but also a facilitator. It’s a lot to ask of Lin, but he’s got a high basketball IQ and he’s proven that he can play at a high level on a consistent basis. The Lakers need a spark and Lin could provide that.
