After beating the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers had a big let down by losing to the worst team in the NBA, the New York Knicks. Melo had a big night and the Knicks easily beat the Lakers 92-80 in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd.

The game wasn’t the only thing the Lakers lost yesterday, they also lost big man Jordan Hill. The Arizona Wildcat left the game in the first quarter after suffering a quad strain in the first quarter. He only played seven minutes, but it didn’t seem like it was a big deal. According to Mike Trudell of TWC SportsNet, Hill is on his way to LA to meet with the team doctors:

Hill has been one of the few bright spots this season. While the season is lost for the Lakers, Hill provides excellent energy and he’s a force in the paint. The Lakers are on their annual Grammy road trip and they still have three games left to be played. It’s unlikely Hill will rejoin the team, especially with a quad injury that could take some time to fully heal.

Hill has been averaging 12.3 points and 8 rebounds per game this season. More importantly, he has shown the ability to knock down the 15-17 foot jumper on a consistent basis. The Lakers could potentially package Hill and send him to a contender before the trade deadline, so they need him to be healthy in order to have that option available to them.
