Byron Scott: Jeremy Lin ‘Did Some Good Things’ For Lakers
By Jacob Rude
After criticizing Jeremy Lin in their last game against the Knicks, Lakers head coach Byron Scott did a complete 180 degrees following the team’s loss in Milwaukee, a game which saw Lin get the crunch-time minutes over rookie Jordan Clarkson.
Most notably, Lin hit a clutch three-pointer down the stretch of the fourth quarter which extended the Lakers lead to six points with under a minute remaining. However, the Bucks would put on a furious rally, forcing overtime before eventually running the Lakers out of the gym in the extra frame.
However, Lin had a handful of nice plays in the fourth quarter, including a couple of assists to Carlos Boozer to help keep the Lakers ahead. Despite his putrid shooting night (2 of 12 from the field), Lin was effective and looked in control for most of the game, an area of the game he has struggled with this season.
Considering the inconsistency of Scott’s rotations, however, tonight’s performance may not necessarily mean more minutes late in the game for Lin going forward. In fact, the Lakers and Scott have favored the rookie Clarkson late in games in an effort to get the rookie past the necessary learning curve all rookies have.
