Lakers Rumors: Kevin Love Still Favors The Lakers This Summer?
By Jacob Rude
In the story that just won’t go away, today’s Lakers rumors is about Kevin Love and his supposed long-time affinity for the Lakers. Despite supposedly promising an extension to the Cavaliers, teams are still wary of him signing with the Lakers this summer.
It’s the rumor that won’t die and the story that won’t just go away. In this edition nearly weekly Kevin Love rumor update, we hear that Love to the Lakers seems more and more like a sure thing this summer.
In a recent podcast with Bill Simmons on the BS Report, NBA writer Zach Lowe had some very interesting comments regarding Love and the Lakers this summer. Lowe insinuated that other GMs are wary of trading for Love if the Cavaliers were to make him available as the general consensus is he may bolt for Los Angeles this summer.
Here are the comments via Forum Blue and Gold’s Twitter account:
This is particularly interesting news for the Lakers, who seem dead set on pursuing the big name free agents during the summer. After notably swinging and missing on Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James last summer, Love could certainly be atop their wish list this summer as a proven NBA star.
The biggest problem is that the Lakers drafted Julius Randle last spring and also already have the likes of Ryan Kelly and Tarik Black under contract at least this season and plausible pieces for the future, the Lakers front court already has young depth to it. While Love is obviously far more proven and far more talented, he doesn’t mesh well with the talent the Lakers have.
Would the Lakers be willing to sacrifice pieces they already have in place to bring in Love? Would you be willing to as Lakers’ GM? Let us know down below!
