As the Goran Dragic saga continues, the Lakers rumors center around the point guard’s potential trade move with Dragic listing the Lakers among his preferred teams.
The Los Angeles Lakers are still capable of bringing in the stars, as evidenced by the latest breaking news regarding Goran Dragic. With the trade deadline less than two days away, Dragic has been the biggest name thrown around in trade rumors with the Lakers tossed out as a potential suitor.
On Tuesday night, it all came to a head in Phoenix with Dragic’s agent meeting with Suns management and informing them the guard would not be re-signing with the team this summer, as reported by Sam Amick of the USA Today.
"According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the representatives for the Suns point guard told team officials in a Tuesday meeting that he has no plans to re-sign in Phoenix this summer as a free agent."
The next bombshell came from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo, who revealed that the Lakers are among the teams Dragic prefers to land.
The Lakers have had interest in Dragic both in terms of trading for Dragic and/or in free agency, depending on their success in this week’s trade deadline. Obviously trading for the guard includes giving up assets, but it also ensures that the Lakers acquire his services as opposed to bidding for him in free agency.
If the Lakers think they can persuade Dragic into staying by trading for him this week, then it’s reasonable to think they’ll make a deal happen. They do also run the risk of winning too many games and losing their top five draft pick as well.
