The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 12:00PM PST and the rumors will began to fly left and right. The Lakers could be very active in the next 48 hours, or they can wait until the off-season to start making some moves.
The Lakers do have some valuable trade-able assets, which could be used to get some picks or another player in return. According to Sam Amick of USA Today, the Lakers have expressed interest in Suns center, Miles Plumlee:
Plumlee’s stats won’t blow you away, but he’s a hard nosed player who does all the dirty work. He started 79 games last season and averaged 8.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. So he can be serviceable, but his real value is his motor.
The Lakers need a lot of help and the addition of Plumlee could help solidify the second unit. Head coach Byron Scott loves players who are tough and play smart defensively and Plumlee would fit that mold. The Lakers need help in many areas, but Plumlee brings intangibles that can be an important piece for a playoff team.
Let’s hope the Lakers are in contention for the playoffs next season.
