On Tuesday night, Goran Dragic sent the NBA world buzzing as he informed the Suns front office that he would be leaving Phoenix this summer and not re-signing with the team. Through his agent, he asked that the Suns deal him before Thursday’s trade deadline.
With that, he included the Los Angeles Lakers as one of the teams he preferred to go to, along with the New York Knicks and Miami Heat. The Lakers are reported to have interest in Dragic, so the feeling appears to be mutual.
If dealt for, Dragic would instantly become the best active player on the Lakers roster with Kobe Bryant out for the season. However, he could also potentially jeopardize the Lakers chances of retaining their first-round pick, which would ironically be conveyed back to Phoenix.
It’s not often you get a player like Dragic asking to join your team, which is one of the reasons the Lakers should pursue Dragic. Here are five reasons why the Lakers should trade for the point guard.
