With just over two-thirds of the 2014-2015 season having been played, Lakers fans can draw one conclusion already: this year has been one to forget. With the team having recorded just 15 wins in 56 games, L.A. is on course for their worst season in franchise history, and with a banged up rookie, a misfit coach and an aging superstar on their hands, the purple and gold are putting to bed one dynasty whilst desperately searching for the catalyst to another.

With that being said, every team has their jester, each game has its highlight and, without want to look at the larger picture, we’ve had some fun along the way. History has been made, youth has shone and, although their time in Los Angeles may be drawing to a close, we’ve had a few neat plays from some roster-filling players.

Honorable Mentions

Wesley Johnson vs. Rockets – November 19th.

With under a minute left in the fourth quarter, Wesley Johnson pick-pocketed James Harden, ran the floor and finished at the rim drawing a foul in the process. The converted free-throw gave L.A. a 94-92 lead; the dagger for Houston and the booking of the Lakers’ 3rd win in 12 games.

Nick Young vs. Trailblazers – January 5th.

This wasn’t a strong outing for Swaggy, but his trademark lunacy paid off as he hit a deep three-ball from just inside half-court after a poorly used shotclock from the Lakers. Relatively  insignificant across the course of the game, but a jaw-dropping shot nonetheless.

Kobe Bryant vs. Pelicans – January 21st.

Although he may have sustained a season-ending injury during the game, Bryant’s outing against the Pelicans just goes to show that you can take the game from the Mamba, but never the Mamba from the game. When Jeremy Lin just won’t do, you can always use the back of Omer Asik as your passing buddy.
