Screw Your Draft Picks!

PG – Ty Lawson
SG – Kobe Bryant
SF – Justise Winslow
PF – Julius Randle
C – Ed Davis

This one surprise you? Let’s say the Lakers are dead set on acquiring top talent, so why wouldn’t they use some of their four draft picks on talent? This isn’t a team that has traditionally built through the draft in such a widespread way.

Instead, the possibility of them instead choosing to package some of those picks for a superstar player is a foreseeable one. Lawson’s name was thrown around in trade rumors around the deadline. The locker room and environment around Denver appeared to turn toxic at the end of Brian Shaw‘s run. Maybe Denver wants to clean house and the Lakers can make an offer built around Houston’s first round pick, their second round pick, and Jordan Hill‘s contract.

In that case, their own first-round pick would be used on a non-PG and with possibly the big men potentially off the board, they take Winslow, who could be a hidden gem, especially in a line-up where he wouldn’t be the first option. Think Kawhi Leonard.

With this line-up, and with these players, the Lakers become an attractive option for future free agents as well.
