It has been a long four-plus months. After a busy offseason, Los Angeles Lakers basketball is officially back on Saturday night as the purple and gold are taking on the Golden State Warriors in the team’s first preseason game of the year.

The last time fans saw the non-Summer League Lakers in action was Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. LeBron James had a historic first half that was not enough to win the game, prompting him to flirt with retirement after the game.

LeBron ultimately did not retire and the Lakers went out and assembled arguably the most talented roster he has had around him in Los Angeles. Year 21 is an exciting one for LeBron and his fans, but when exactly will it start? Will he be suiting up in the first preseason game of the year?

Is LeBron James playing tonight vs Warriors?

No. LeBron James confirmed to reporters earlier this week that he will not be suiting up against the Warriors to start the preseason. There are no health setbacks or anything of that nature, LeBron is simply 38 years old and doesn’t need to play in every preseason game.

LeBron did say that his goal is to play three of the Lakers’ six preseason games before the start of the regular season. With his foot now in good shape, Lakers fans can expect to see The King in action before the game actually count.

Is Anthony Davis playing tonight vs Warriors?

The Lakers (nor Anthony Davis) have confirmed whether or not Davis is going to play against the Warriors on Saturday. Davis has been cleared, though, so there are no hurdles for him to jump over to play on Saturday.

If Davis does play expect him to play a much smaller role than he traditionally does as the team looks to ease the new players on the roster into the fold.

What other Lakers won’t be playing against the Warriors?

As of now, the only other confirmed Lakers player who will not be suiting up against Golden State on Saturday night is Austin Reaves. If Davis does not play, Los Angeles will be without its entire “big three” for the first preseason game of the year.

Meanwhile, all signs are pointing to Stephen Curry suiting up and playing in some capacity at home against the Lake Show.
