The NBA Draft Lottery is the next thing Laker fans can look forward to and after that free agency will give the Lakers an opportunity to get better by adding some fresh faces to the roster.
The Lakers already have a list of free agents they will target in July. According to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News, the Lakers reportedly would prefer to sign Rajon Rondo over Goran Dragic:
"Assuming the Lakers stay in win-soon mode, it is a safe bet that they will go hard after the two top point guards on the market, with Bryant’s pal Rajon Rondo at the head of the list and Goran Dragic behind him."
Kobe Bryant is a fierce competitor and he hasn’t been shy about recruiting Rondo to come to the Lakers, so this report makes sense. Not only do the Lakers prefer Rondo, but he’s in a better situation to leave his current team. Rondo hasn’t had the best experience in Dallas, while Dragic seems to be enjoying South Beach.
The Lakers need all the help they can get. However, Jordan Clarkson has emerged as a real option at the point guard position. Mitch needs to find help in all areas of the Lakers roster, so it will be interesting to see if the Lakers do go after a point guard.
