Lakers News: Jordan Clarkson Wins Rookie Of The Month

The Lakers have not had much to celebrate this season. This year will go down as one of the worst seasons in Laker history. Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan in the all-time scoring list, but that’s about it.

Jordan Clarkson, a second round pick out of Missouri has been the lone bright spot this season. He has been very impressive as of late and the league took notice.
Today, the Lakers announced that Clarkson was named the Western Conference Rookie of the Month:
Clarkson had been averaging 15.8 points, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds this past month. He has been clutch down the stretch and the Lakers owe a couple of the wins his heroics. Clarkson had to dethrone Andrew Wiggins, who won the first four rookie of the month awards in the West this season.
Clarkson is also the first Laker to ever win the award, which is very surprising. Since the award was created in 1981-82, the Lakers have not a single player win the award. There hasn’t been a buzz about a rookie for quite some time here in Los Angeles.
The Lakers were targeting the point guard position in free agency, but now they might have the luxury of looking elsewhere.
