The Lakers came up short against the Dallas Mavericks last night. In a game where all Laker fans were rooting for their team to win, the Mavs proved to be the superior teams and easily beat the Lakers 120-106.
The game was not the only things the Lakers lost last night. Once again they have lost another player due to injury. Dwight Buycks fractured his right third metacarpal, officially ending his season with the Lakers after only a couple of games.
With yet another season ending injury, the Lakers have reportedly added another body to the roster. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers will sign Vander Blue out of the D-League:
Blue has been playing great for the Los Angeles Defenders in the D-League. He is averaging 23.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. The 6-foot-5 guard out of Marquette has shown some promise with the Defenders and now will get a chance to prove himself in the last two games of the season.
Buycks season injury is the ninth this season for the Lakers and that’s not counting Wesley Johnson who suffered a moderate ankle sprain last night and will also miss the final two games of the season.
The Lakers are depleted and the addition of Blue is crucial. The Lakers have only been playing eight players as of late, which means Blue will get a chance to see the floor. Could this be another diamond in the rough for the Lakers? Let’s hope so.
