Lakers Rumors: Cavs Scared Kevin Love Will Leave Cleveland
By Alex Torres
After some disappointing attempts to lure some talent these last couple of summers, the Lakers are desperate. For most of the time that this franchise has been in Los Angeles, few if any have said no to the Lakers, but it’s starting to become a trend.

Who doesn’t want to play for a franchise with 16 titles and a rich history that is only rivaled by the Boston Celtics. The Lakers are hopeful this summer will bring better luck. This rebuilding process will take more than one off-season, but they must pick up the right pieces to make this team competitive. A big name star will not come to a team that is early in the rebuilding process, so there needs to be a foundation.
Kevin Love could be a player that could attract other free agents. If he does opt out of his deal and enters free agency, the Lakers are considered one of the favorites. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports was on the Dan Patrick Show and he reported that the Cavs are indeed scared Love will opt out of his contract. (via: Pro Basketball Talk):
"“He’s going to look at free agency, I think he’s going to look at other teams. He can always opt in and go into free agency next summer where there’s even a bigger pool of money. But there’s a legitimate fear within the Cavs that he will just walk.”"
Love was supposed to be a piece of a championship contending team, but has had a hard time adjusting as the number three option. Love has always been the first option since he was bouncing a ball with the Lake Oswego Lakers and this past year he was relegated to just be a spot up shooter.
After such a tumultuous year with the Cavaliers, it would make sense for Love to test the free agent market. Or he can endure another year in Cleveland and become a free agent in 2016 when the salary cap will be higher. Only time will tell, but as of now, the Cavs are scared they might have traded two number one picks for a one year rental.
