Lakers News: Magic Says Kobe Could Have Played in the 80’s

The NBA playoffs have been amazing so far. The semi-finals in both conferences have been thrilling and fans are on the edge of their seats. Just this weekend alone, there was three buzzer beaters in the Eastern Conference.

As a basketball fan you can’t complain. For the younger generations, this is some of the best basketball they have ever seen. They weren’t old enough to see basketball in the 1980’s, where the game was a lot more physical and Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were dominating on a nightly basis.

Johnson is very active on Twitter and after seeing LeBron James knock down the game winner against the Bulls on Sunday night, he expressed his opinion on current players that could have played during his era. Here’s the three players he named:

Magic didn’t really go out in a limb here. He only named the three greatest players since Michael Jordan left the game. Kobe, Duncan and LeBron have won 12 championships combined and it would have been great to see them go up against Magic, Bird and Jordan.

A young Kobe and Jordan going up against each other would be an amazing match-up. Also, Magic going up against LeBron would be equally as impressive. We can only dream about those match-ups, but Magic believes they could have fit right in the 1980’s
