The Summer League is a great fan experience and some great basketball is played. Aside from the high draft picks, most players on the team are trying to land on an NBA roster, so these guys are going out there playing 110 percent.
The Lakers will have a talented team this Summer in Las Vegas. Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and hopefully the top five pick from this year’s draft will be competing for the purple and gold. According to TWC SportsNet, Mark Madsen will be the man in charge in the desert:
Byron Scott sat down with James Worthy on an episode of “Connected With…” and revealed to Big Game James that Madsen will be the head coach at the Las Vegas Summer League. Madsen has been coaching for a good amount of time now and has worked his way to becoming the Lakers player development coach.
Madsen won a couple of titles with the Lakers, so he brings great experience to the table. As a player, Madsen was not the most skilled or athletic, but he played hard and smart. The Stanford graduate has the brains and that’s what has made him a good coach. This is great experience for Madsen and hopefully it helps with the development of Randle who is coming back after only playing one game last season.
