Lakers News: Team Receives Second Pick In NBA Draft

The moment that everybody was waiting for finally arrived. The ping pong balls were ready and 14 NBA teams were hopeful the balls would bounce their way.

With a 82.5 percent chance of keeping the pick, the Los Angeles Lakers fans faced an immense amount of nerves. Although the odds were in our favor, the Lakers haven’t had much luck in the past few seasons.

As the NBA Draft Lottery took place in New York City, the Lakers had Byron Scott represent them and they were hopeful he would bring some luck.

Had the pick fallen out of the Top 5, the Philadelphia Sixers would’ve collected another young asset. Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak will have a lot of options moving forward from trading the pick to analyzing and scouting a potential piece for the future.

With many mock drafts occurring, the Lakers could possibly grab one of the better big men in the NBA draft with their first round selection. How will the draft shake out? We will have to wait and see. Now that we now that we got to keep our pick, waiting will not be as hard.
