Before receiving the pick, the future of this franchise looked bleak, but now there is a sense of optimism in the air and everyone can feel it. Not only Laker fans, but people around the NBA feel the same way.

According to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News, some agents believe that the Lakers have once again become a desirable situation:

"“I think it is something that helps out their sales pitch in a big, big way,” one agent told Sporting News. “The past couple of years, their pitch has sort of been, ‘Come play for us because we’re the Lakers and the weather is nice.’ That’s not enough. You’ve seen that. They have not had a direction, and that’s why players don’t want to go there.”"

The last couple of years have been difficult for the Lakers. They haven’t been able to attract the big name free agents, which is why their performance on the court suffered. The Lakers have always been a premiere destination, but you didn’t get that feeling these past two summers.

Now, with the young core of Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and the number two pick in this year’s draft, the Lakers’ future looks a little brighter. The Lakers also have plenty of cap space and we all know money talks.
