Lakers Fan Flea Places $1K Bet on Warriors

Flea has become unlikely voice of the Lakers’s passionate fanbase. He’s among the most popular and outgoing superfans any professional team can boast. He’ll never be called faux or bandwagon as he’s suffered along with the rest of us through these trying times.

None of that, however, has not – nor should not – stop him from making a buck or two betting on a division rival.

On the Dan LeBatard Show Monday afternoon (6-4-15, Part 2: Minute 21), he announced that he made a $1,000 wager on the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA Championship. Should he win, he’ll earn a cool $700. Not bad at all, considering the Warriors are heavy favorites to defeat LeBron’s injury-riddled Cleveland Cavaliers.

Also in the interview, Flea threw a nice little cheap shot at another divisional opponent: Chris Paul.

When asked if Flea’s passion opens him up for Paul’s trash talk on the sidelines, Flea said this:

"“Well I was taken a little bit by surprise by (Paul’s) verbal aggression, but at the same time… Chris Paul’s never been out of the second round of the playoffs.”"

Atta boy, Flea.

His entire band once gambled on themselves, in a story he once told to LeBatard on a previous appearance. The Peppers were living in a small apartment together and, upon the success of their first album, had a choice as to whether they wanted to upgrade their living situation or purchase Lakers season tickets.

They went with the tickets.

We heart you, Flea.
