The Lakers would reportedly prefer Karl-Anthony Towns over Jahlil Okafor, unfortunately, they do not have the number one pick. Although some rumors have been swirling around that Flip Saunders and the Wolves are leaning towards Okafor, they would be foolish to pass up on Towns.

Towns has been working out in Los Angeles and his workouts have been impressive. The big man has a nice jumper and can handle the ball extremely well for his size. Defensively, he is a force in the paint and has all the tools to become a franchise player.

When he is not working out, Towns is meeting with another member of the Kentucky family, current Laker Julius Randle. While they didn’t play together, they still have a lot in common and they were spotted having lunch in LA.

TMZ Sports spotted the two big man and Towns was polite and answered most of the questions he was asked. Towns mostly gave all the right answers, but when asked if he would like to play with Kobe, it was quick and easy response for the consensus number one pick:

If you were not a fan of Towns before, surely his response has changed your mind. That’s the type of attitude you want from your rookie franchise player. Someone who is excited to play with Bryant and understands that he needs to do whatever it takes to win a championship.

Towns would fit in perfectly with the Lakers. With Julius Randle playing the four spot, Towns would help tremendously defensively, especially since Randle is now known for his defense. The Lakers have a long and rich history with big men and Towns could potentially be the next in line.

If the Lakers are truly enamored with this kid, they must try to make a deal to move up to the number one slot. Otherwise, he will be wearing a Timberwolves jersey next season.
