The Los Angeles Lakers are currently deep at one and only one position: inefficient shooting guard.
Nick Young and Kobe Bryant are simultaneously two of the most and least enjoyable players to watch at their position. With Young, we literally have no idea what might come next, on or off the court. With Kobe, well, he’s Kobe.

You know what the Lakers definitely don’t need: Another one of those guys.
But it’s basically free agency season and the Lakers have spending money so, hey a Lou Williams rumor!
This, via Shams Charania of RealGM:
"Lou Williams is expected to receive strong interest from teams that include the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, providing a clear competition for the Toronto Raptors to retain the NBA’s reigning Sixth Man of the Year, league sources told RealGM."
Rumors are fun. Basketball is fun. Rooting for the Lakers is fun. Lakers basketball rumors are not fun.
Look, it’s an agents job to get his client as much money as he possibly can. You know the best way to do so: Link said client to the Lakers.
When a rumor like today occurs, and fans of Williams’ team (in this case, the Raptors) freak out because they don’t want to think of Lou on a different team, the leverage Williams might have increases exponentially. This is the agent doing his job.
Said in another way: Any agent who does not link his client publicly to the Lakers should be fired immediately. They’re worse at their job than Donald Trump’s hairdresser.
So, tomorrow, don’t be shocked to hear Free Agent X is tied to the Lakers regardless of fit. Can you honestly think of anyone who fits in a hypothetical situation worse than Williams and the Lakers? That’s not the point, apparently.
We are entering the post-finals NBA, where rumors don’t have to make sense. They need only to draw interest.
