Laker fans were very excited at the possibility of acquiring DeMarcus Cousins. They were even more excited when the Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported that the Lakers and Sacramento Kings were discussing the framework of a potential trade for the Lakers to land Cousins.

Unfortunately, it seems like the Kings want a lot for their All-Star big man. It was reported that they potentially wanted the number two pick, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson, which is insane.

Now, it seems the Kings are undecided on what to do with Cousins. George Karl, who was just hired to coach this ball club, wants to get rid of Cousins. However, Vivek Ranadive is the owner and he disagrees.

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, the Kings might fire Karl because he insists on trading Cousins:

Karl has been the head coach for about four months now and he might be looking for another job soon. When Ranadive hired Karl, he assumed that Cousins would be a part of the plan moving forward, but that’s not the case. Karl is adamant and believes the Kings would be better off by moving the disgruntled big man.

Cousins has been developed into one of the best centers in the NBA. He is only 24 years old and has proven to be a force in the paint. Why is Karl in such a rush to get rid of him? Is it his attitude? Cousins has been labeled as a difficult player to deal with since his days in Kentucky, which is why teams stayed away from him.

Things have gotten interesting in Sacramento, but if they do fire Karl, the Lakers won’t be landing Cousins any time soon.
