Former Lakers forward Lamar Odom is making progress although not yet out of the woods.

The Lake Show Life wrote an open letter to Lamar Odom last week hoping to send out a constructive, honest and heartfelt message to our beloved former Laker. Well Lakers fans, things are looking up!

ESPNLA reporter, Ramona Shelburne has consistently been one of the first people to break news on Odom’s progress.

Further, E! Online is reporting a lot of details about Odom’s status:

"E! News has exclusively learned that Odom passed a swallow test, a promising sign of neurological function and an important step because doctors took out his breathing tube and needed to ensure he could swallow on his own. We’ve also learned that Odom was helped out of bed for the first time since being hospitalized Tuesday night. He was moved with assistance into a chair and his breathing showed no signs of distress. He continues to wear a mask to aid the flow of oxygen but he’s breathing on his own."

ABC7 Eyewitness News reported that Odom may move from the Las Vegas hospital to a Los Angeles hospital very soon. One could guess that hospital might be Cedars Sinai, which caters to and is equipped for celebrity patients.

This was confirmed on the Lakers Access Sportsnet post game show on Monday night after the Portland Trailblazers preseason game, who cited Ramona Shelburne as their source.

The NBA on ESPN has also reported that Odom will start physical therapy to help him try to walk which is encouraging.

It has been a hard and emotional week for those fans who have ever been touched by Lamar Odom, and even harder for those closest to him.

Odom’s’ progress is great news and we all are crossing our fingers that he can make even more in the coming days.

Whatever the case, this is all fantastic news, our prayers have been answered so far. Only time will tell what his chances are for a full recovery but we can only hope that this is the wake-up call he needed, and that he feels he has a new lease on life.

Keep praying for Lamar, Lakers fans!
