Lou Williams did not travel with the Lakers to Portland after the death of his grandfather
The Los Angeles Lakers were beaten handily six days ago when they faced the Portland Trail Blazers at STAPLES Center. On Saturday night, they will be on the road for another matchup with Portland in the unfriendly confines of the Moda Center. However, it appears that the Lakers may be without a key contributor.
The reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Lou Williams hasn’t particularly been the offensive force that the Lakers had hoped he’d be this season, but he’s still a valuable part of the rotation in Los Angeles. They’ll be without that piece for at least Saturday’s matchup with the Trail Blazers.
Williams didn’t travel with the team to Portland this weekend. Instead of an injury, though, Williams stayed in Los Angeles for less fortunate reasons after the death of his grandfather:
In terms of the Lakers on the floor, there’s no word just yet whether Williams will suit up on Sunday night as the Lakers will be back in STAPLES on the second night of a back-to-back. At this point, one can assume that him missing both games is a possibility.
Outside of basketball, our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to Williams and his family as they go through this difficult time.
