9. Shaq Scores 40 and adds 24 Rebounds in the 2000 NBA Finals
Considering the Los Angeles Lakers are an organization that is all about winning championships, it is only right that the top 10 of this list is predominantly comprised of playoff or Finals moments.
Not many people have the honors of saying they have scored 40 points in an NBA Finals game and Shaq barely squeaked his way in 2000 when he dropped 40 points on the helpless Indiana Pacers, giving Los Angeles a 2-0 lead in the Finals.
More impressively, was the fact that Shaq had 24 rebounds and 39 free throws! He ended up shooting just above 46 percent from the free throw line that night.
This was also the same night that Indiana Pacer, Jalen Rose, intentionally injured Kobe Bryant, putting his foot under Kobe’s before he landed on a jumpshot. Kobe ended up only playing nine minutes that night but it did not matter, as Shaq picked up the slack making the Pacers pay for their bush league tactics.
Bryant ended up missing game three, but the Lakers ultimately defeated the Pacers in six games, giving them the first championship of the 2000 three-peat. In game six, Shaq had himself another game finishing with 41 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks, taking home his first of three Finals MVP honors.
