A look at some of the Lakers players and coaches and pairing them with their Star Wars counterparts
In case you have been living under a rock lately, the seventh installment in the Star Wars canon of films hits theaters on Thursday night. Subsequently, the Los Angeles Lakers and many NBA teams around the league have been getting involved in some regard.
The Lakers haven’t had a full-blown “Star Wars Night” like many other teams have, but they have at least spoken on the subject or been asked about it media. This includes rookie Larry Nance Jr., who talked about the movie franchise on Wednesday to the media.
In discussion about the movies, Nance likened Kobe Bryant to Yoda and Nick Young to Jar Jar Binks:
This got me thinking about the team as a whole in relation to Star Wars and where everyone fits in. One thing led to another and now here we are, comparing players to Star Wars characters.
In doing this, there are two things that need to be addressed. For one, no one is Jar Jar Binks. That kind of evil and slander should not be wished upon anyone, even the worst Lakers players in history. Moreover, I desperately wish that the Lakers had someone with an obesity problem that we could call Jabba the Hutt. Sadly, that’s not the case, though. Thanks a lot, personal trainers, workout routines, etc.
Without any further adieu, though, these are a few Lakers players (and a coach) and their Star Wars counterparts.
