Lakers legend Kobe Bryant turned back the clock against the Rockets for a monster dunk over Clint Capela
Kobe Bryant has been playing his best basketball season for the Los Angeles Lakers as of late, shooting the rock with more efficiency and even showing off his abilities as a passer and a facilitator. It’s been fun to watch Kobe in his final season and after his early-season struggles really start to find a rhythm and look impressive.
However, it turns out that he was just getting started; he had something really special in store for Lakers fans on Thursday night against the Houston Rockets in STAPLES Center.
Early in the third quarter, Kobe got the ball just right of the top of the key. He took off on a drive to the rim and then took off through the air for a monstrous dunk over lengthy Rockets big man Clint Capela:
And at another angle just for fun:
If you had to adjust your television set to make sure it wasn’t set to show you Lakers games from 2001, you’re not alone. That certainly didn’t look like a 37-year-old in his 20th season in the NBA; that looked like The Black Mamba with all of his powers.
Fans weren’t the only ones shocked and ecstatic to see that as Nick Young was just a little bit stunned and happy to see Kobe turn back the clock:
For all of the tiresome hardships that both the Lakers and Kobe have had so far this season, it’s moments like this that are going to leave a lasting impression given Bryant’s impending retirement.
