The Lakers recently drafted D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle, a tag team that could a force for years to come
Considering their situation, this season both Russell and Randle have put up respectable numbers.
Randle is averaging 11.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, nearly a double-double. Russell still has a lot to learn, but he is currently averaging 12 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
That said, Russell is quickly understanding that the NBA has become a point guard’s league and is growing with each opportunity. Randle understands that versatility is a powerful weapon in the NBA and uses this to his advantage, whether it’s dribbling the ball down the court, or posting up for rebounds.
In a short time, we have seen D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle connect on some outstanding plays. Their chemistry is growing and both have boundless potential, but they must be given time because practice makes perfect.

D’Angelo Russell is a very intelligent point guard who knows how to put the ball where it needs to go.
Additionally, he has a talent for seeing the entire floor, and has already drawn comparisons to Magic Johnson and Steve Nash, two of the league’s greatest point guards ever.
Aforementioned, versatility is what sets Randle apart in the league. Randle has the ability to play almost any position he needs for his team, which is extremely beneficial. Randle can exploit defenders on nearly every part of the floor, which is why Russell is such a great asset to him.
Whether he gets the ball in the midrange, or under the basket, even extending his range to the three point line in recent games, Randle can handle it.
Drafted into a losing team, with a coach not fit for the NBA level, their situation now is tough, but if they can overcome it and persevere they’ll be ready for anything.
Luckily, they have a coach with them who knows what’s he talking about in Kobe Bryant. Although he’s in his last year, if anybody knows about a tough start as a dynamic duo, it’s Kobe.
That said, if fans are patient with the young duo, they could be in for a treat sooner than later.
