The five best Lakers moments in their historic rivalry with the Celtics
Kobe Bryant will play his final game inside TD Garden on Wednesday night as the Los Angeles Lakers take on the Boston Celtics. While there is still one more game against the Celtics left in the illustrious career of Kobe, his final road game in the series with the Lakers’ most bitter rival has a special feel to it.
Bryant has undoubtedly been a huge part in the later chapters of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry that dates back over 50 years now. While the rivalry has been decidedly one-sided in recent years given the injuries to Kobe and the decline of the Lakers into rebuilding mode, the two teams have always shared a special bond with one another as the league’s greatest rivalry.
As this chapter of the rivalry for the Lakers comes to a close, though, it obviously leads fans to look back over his career and see where he has contributed to the rivalry. Taking it even further, it lends itself to seeing where Kobe fits into the overall context of the rivalry over it’s decades of history.
Subsequently, it’s always a good time to look back on the great moments in the rivalry, particularly the great moments for the Lakers over that time. Which leads us here—these are the five greatest Lakers moments in the rivalry with the Celtics.
