D’Angelo Russell Flashed His Unlimited Potential

It was just a few weeks ago that fans were all over D’Angelo Russell for being a bust, with shouts of “We should have drafted Jahlil Okafor,” or “Wow, we passed on Kristaps Porzingis for this kid,” ever present. That said, through his entire journey, D’Loading has preached for fans to be patient, and Thursday night he rewarded fans for just that.

In the best game of his young career, alongside Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell led the Lakers comeback in the fourth quarter finishing with 27 points on 11-of-16 shooting in 29 minutes posting a staggering +28.

It was not necessarily Russell’s stats that were most impressive, rather how he took over the game. Normally, calm and under control, Russell let his emotions be seen Thursday and his play followed suit.

Knocking down clutch shots from behind the arc and even attacking the paint, the thing critics have argued he hasn’t done enough of this season, Russell showed the world just a glimpse of his full potential.

Further, the fact that Russell attempted to play on his sprained ankle is another encouraging sign for Lakers fans who have often criticized his lack of drive or killer instinct.
