The current Lakers and 2012 Warriors share many similarities that could help LA rebuild

As mentioned briefly in a previous article, the Golden State Warriors were far from an over night success. Up until four years ago, the team was actually in a playoff drought, consistently at the bottom of the group in the Pacific Division.

It was only when they decided to finally get some help and bring Jerry West over as a consultant to the team when their fortunes truly began to change, which is ironic considering he worked similar wonders with the Lakers in the 90’s.

Almost immediately after his hiring, the team underwent a complete overhaul, trading Monta Ellis for Andrew Bogut, hiring a new coach, then another one a few seasons later, and then figuring out “The Secret.” Looking at the current state of the Lakers, they find themselves in a similar situation and could truly benefit from this plan of attack.

Yes, it must be mentioned that the Stephen Curry‘s health had a much to do with the Warriors’ current success, but the decision to trade Monta even with Curry’s glass ankles in mind shows that Jerry West knew what kind of player he had before anyone else did.
