Lakers: Nick Young Attributes Win to Young Guys Using Deodorant
Nick Young had a predictably odd answer as to why the Lakers were able to top the Pelicans on Thursday
Stop the presses, but the Los Angeles Lakers are technically on a winning streak after Thursday night when they were able to dispatch an injury-riddled New Orleans Pelicans team. That gives the Lakers two consecutive wins after outlasting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night as well.
There are plenty of reasons as to why this has been happening for the Lakers lately. D’Angelo Russell has been trusted marginally more over the past two games, Tarik Black is part of the rotation, and Byron Scott is coaching like his job is on the line. Nick Young has a bit of a different reason for the recent success, though.
After the win over New Orleans, Young was talking about what the Lakers did and changed to earn the win. He attributed the success to the newfound hygiene of the young players:
Of course, Swaggy P making his predictably odd claims came after he interrupted Russell’s post-game interview by spraying him in the face with deodorant:
If you ever need an indication of how the Lakers are playing, just look at Young in the post-game locker room scrum. When things are going well, he’s absolutely out of his mind and entertaining everyone. When things are going bad, not so much.

However, if it actually is the deodorant and the showers and the general hygiene, they better cake it on and lather up real well over the rest of February. The Lakers have an absolutely brutal stretch of games coming up and, if they want to pick up a win over that stretch, they’re going to need whole sticks of deodorant at a time.
