With the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline closing in, these are five possible trade destinations for Lakers center Roy Hibbert

The 2016 NBA Trade Deadline is less than two days away and the Los Angeles Lakers have yet to make anything happen, despite reports that they’ve been actively trying to work as sellers on the market leading up to the deadline. One name that has popped up often for the Lakers in trade discussions has been veteran center Roy Hibbert.

The Lakers traded for Hibbert in a deal with the Indiana Pacers this past offseason with the hopes that Hibbert’s defensive presence on the interior would improve the Lakers’ defense as a whole. However, the poor perimeter defense in LA has ultimately put too much pressure on the big man this season and has crippled his biggest strength on the basketball court.

That being said, just because Hibbert has been more of a nuisance to have on the Lakers roster than anything else this season doesn’t mean that he’s not capable of still making a contribution ton an NBA team. Considering that the trade chatter regarding Hibbert all along has been trying to move him to a contender, that should speak to the value he has in the league as a rim protector.

However, trading Hibbert is far from the easiest task. Sure, he’s a big expiring contract. But you have to also find a team that would be willing to match or get close to his $15 million salary this season. While it might not be to a contender, there are plenty of teams around the league who could make a deal like that work for a number of reasons.

These are five plausible and possible trade destinations for Roy Hibbert before the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline.
