To avoid any further damage, the Lakers are contemplating shutting down Larry Nance Jr. for the remainder of the season
Similar to Jordan Clarkson last year, but on a much smaller scale, Larry Nance Jr.has been a pleasant surprise in a year full of unpleasantries. After curiously selecting Nance with the 27th pick, reportedly in a move to keep him from landing on the San Antonio Spurs, the Lakers found themselves another mid-late draft steal.
Entering the draft, Nance Jr’s recent ACL tear wasn’t kept a secret, but the Lakers obviously didn’t think it would remaining a lingering problem nearly five months into the NBA season.
However, that has been exactly the case.

With his knee issues flaring up right before All-Star break, as a precaution the Lakers held the 6’9″ power forward out of the few games prior to said weekend, even advising that he skip the dunk contest if offered a spot.
Recently, it was reported that Nance Jr’s knee troubles could finally be over and that it should be smooth sailing from here on out, but with news that the Lakers may actually be shutting him down the season that’s obviously far from the case.
