Lakers rookie D’Angelo Russell netted a halfcourt shot while doing a sit-up during warmups on Tuesday night.

D’Angelo Russell has been undeniably impressive over the past few weeks with the rookie’s performance ramping up since he was promoted back into the starting lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers. However, he may have pulled off the most impressive feat of the season before Tuesday’s game against the Orlando Magic ever tipped off.

In pregame warmups, Russell was at center-court doing some sit-ups to get loose and just messing around by throwing shots up while doing them. Then the craziest thing happened; the 20-year-old Lakers rookie went up and let one fly and it just so happened to fall through the net for arguably the most impressive pregame shot of the season (sorry, Stephen Curry):

Too bad he didn’t call bank because now it obviously doesn’t actually count.

In all seriousness, this is the type of shot your buddy who doesn’t really like basketball all that much throws up near the end of a game of H-O-R-S-E when he’s pretty over playing, but wants to act like he’s still interested. This isn’t a shot that should ever really fall through the bottom of the net, yet here we are.

Though this shot is just an aberration more than anything else, it’s kind of ridiculous the zone that Russell is in right now. Just about anything that he’s throwing up during games these days is falling, so it only figures that would now start to bleed into warmups.
