Early Wednesday morning, it was revealed that Kobe Bryant would be on the cover of the NBA 2K17 video game in a special “Legend Edition”
Kobe Bryant has graced the cover of an NBA 2K cover once before, in a special “Gold Edition” released in 2010, but the brand is letting him do so one last time to honor his legendary career in the NBA.
NBA 2K made the announcement via Facebook early Wednesday morning, alongside a quote and a video of Kobe throughout the years.
"He’s one of only a few players who’s been in every NBA 2K. Before tonight’s final game, watch the iconic Kobe Bryant through the years & know that he will return in #NBA2K17 Legend Edition cover athlete#LegendsLiveOn"

To be honest, as an avid 2K player, while the brand has done well with getting the facial characteristics of other players spot on, they have always struggled when it comes to Kobe Bryant.
With that in mind, hopefully the team makes things right in their last attempt to do so.
As always with 2K, the game will be released right around the season opener for the 2016-2017 season in September.
Very few other players have been on the cover of an NBA 2K game multiple times, so it is a great gesture to send off the Black Mamba.
